Today was the last day of summer. So sad! And tomorrow is my last first day of school. Not quite as sad but I'm sure it will catch up with me....but prob not :) My sister and her bf were sailing today and invited me to join! I love swimming so I was quite estatic. Or however you spell it. My sister has all the photos of that adventure but maybe I will get them from her to put them up. After sailing the high lake, me and my friend went the the movie theater (where I used to work) and saw "The Switch" with Jennifer Anniston. It was a great film I would say. Perfect for the after-sailing exhaustidness.
The above picture (of me) is what I wore to church this morning and a pair of earrings which I just recently made (about 2 days ago)
Now I just have to figure out what to wear to school tomorrow.....

A vintage sweater. I love the colors! And it feels so soft, but not too warm.

My sister invited us over for a yummy dinnertime feast. Delish!

I made 5 pairs of earrings today. This particular one is half French candy container, paper holder clip, and circular mirror. The other side is a mini hair bow and a set of 3 beaded brown necklaces. Not very practical but I love really long, eccentric earrings. Maybe I can sell on Etsy.....? : ) My skirt is an American Eagle sweater I found in my closet; I tied the Sleeves around my front. The spaghetti strap is a brown Banana Republic and my belt is from Tiger Lily as a gift from my lovely sister :)

Since I'm not traveling anymore AKA in New York I'm going to start making this more of a fashion blog. Voila! I like changing old clothes and accesories to make them into something new and amazing...This 100% polyester evening dress used to be a robe until I tried it on backwards and tied the 3/4 sleeves in the back.

Back in Oklahoma

I have now been in Stillwater since August 1. I reallly miss New York. But my family doesn't like to hear that. The exhibition on the last day went great, I met Latasha and Lauren at Pratt. Everyone lovvvved my dress I made! It was my final project, we had to make something out of a t-shirt. AND now that I'm home I will put photos up :) Once I got home, the next Friday, we had a welcome home party for moi, and I hung up my artwork on the stairwell (after Lauren did a fabulous job painting the walls) And my parents, grandma, Lauren, Nature, and I just got back from a fabulous short trip to Branson, Missouri, where we swam everywhere we could, ate doughnuts, guacamole, and fudge, and drove down the strip numerous times at midnight during the car show in my Ford Escort with the windows rolled down and the music turned up. It was a lovely vacation :) and school starts Monday. Sigh. I may take an NOC class but we'll see. I've signed up for it but it used to be free and now it's nearly $600 which is ridiculous. Depressing news: even if I work on my portfolio nonstop, get a decent grade on the SAT, apply to various art schools, and possibly get accepted I'm still going to have to go to OSU, particularly because it's practically free. So question: Should I still try and apply and spend all that extra effort and go out of my way to try to be accepted into a school that is 98% likely I won't be able to go to anyways? GOOD news: I got my nose pierced

pixie!

Today... I got a pixie cut!!! I lovvvve it. I would show you... but I cant figure out again how to put up pictures, plus I left my cord in the dorm. BUT it's super cute. Nose piercing on Wednesday? Hopefully. Tonight all we have is a broadway- Rock of Ages! Excited. And it's at 6 so we have time to do homework, plus I stayed up til 3 last night to sketch out my fashion illustrations so I have less to do. Maybe I'll sleep tonight! But just in case I bought energy drinks, mainly because I need to use my food card up before this program is over because we don't get the money back. So I will be eating pleanty this week :)
Yesterday we took a tour of Madison Square Gardens. Which was cool. We got a picture with one of the sports teams dancers and we toured their locker room and took a picture with a size 17 shoe of some famous sports guy. And there was a door that was 7 1/2 feet tall I believe because one of the ball players is 7ft 1". Tall. Then we came back and bought junk food at the C-Store because that was the only place open where we can use our card and they only have junk food. So I felt kinda sick after eating. Saturday night we had a MANDATORY dance/ice cream social. No one was allowed to leave until a certain time. I was going to rebel and wear jeans and casual clothes just becaue everyone was talking about dressing up (even though no one wanted to go) but I talked to Matthew and Kate (the most awesome chaperones/homework space...people) and they convinced me to dress up. SO I went all out and had fun :) and me, Rowan, Kevin, Hannah, and some other people walked to Thai 101 after we were able to leave the dance and had a lovely dinner to celebrate the last Saturday night. Then we went back and I workd on homework til 3. And now my hair is short!

At the moment im walking to Steuben hall to go to Madison square gardens for a mandatory event. Last night me and gaby signed out of our mandatory event and we walked around central park and Madison avenue and had dinner. And found our way back to school via subway using hopstop.com and amazzing website that tells you exactly the way to get back. We met lots of people on the subway and walking that were actually not creepy guys catcalling and staring intensely after we walk by. Most people in New York are super friendly and will just randomly start talking to you and giving you advice. Me ad Ariel went to a Drama Bookstore and a lady started talking to me about my breakouts. And the man we met last night wants to see a tornado before he dies.

Sleep Deprived

I have been soooooooo tired this week. Everyone is. Saturday night I got to bed at 3:30 and woke up at 8. Monday was the same. And tuesday night I went to sleep at 5 am and woke up at 8:45 and then class is at 9. It was literally quite painful this week. BUT I still love it :) and it got batter last night after I got out of my weird zombie mood and woke up to reality and now I feel great! It's been go go go without absolutely no break do I think i was just stressed out and tired. In my foundation class Monday morning we were critiquing which is us hanging our stuff up on the walls and we all talk about them. Everyone was just sitting and staring, completely out of it and drifting off to sleep. Even the model was sleeping while he waited for us to finish crit. In homework space we started making a circle skirt Tuesday but i and a bunch of people had stuff due Wednesday we had to work on and then Wednesday night in homework space I was so tired from getting barely any sleep that i wasn't really functioning properly and I listened while he explained how to make the pattern thenhad no idea how to start. So I took a nap. Wednesday we started our t-shirt projects and mine is so good! It kind of looks like a betsey Johnson dress, it's so cute. Except it got a bit damaged from me taking it off and on so i might put in a zipper and make it a little less delicate. My theme is blue :). Thursday me and micky got Chinese food at the Chinese/Mexican restaurant to go and we met up with our art history class and I dropped my water and it spilled everywhere. Then I put my bag of dumplings down but the bag fell sideways and each dumping fell out, one by one. It was so sad! And then I dropped my fork in the subway while sharing micky's food and I fell on the Met museum steps. And i slide down the dorm building's stairs that day also. It was z clumsy day I guess. Today we gt to sleep in and at 11 heard a lecture from the Yeah Yeah Yeah's Karen O's fashion/costume designer. I loved it. One of my friends told me about a store in Williamsburg that the woman who owns it makes all the clothed in it and she also runs the store. And she makes all her stuff out of recycled clothes like old sweatshirts and jeans and stuff.that's basically exactly what I want ro do with my life so I feally want to visit the store. It's nearly 3am. More about today tomorrow. Goodnight.

so me and 7 other girls made a trip to the city today and went shopping and unfortunately did NOT make that last "stop" to....the piercing place! next week though :)for my nose. sorry mom! but we came back and immediately had to leave again with the group for the mandatory King Tut exhibit, which I already saw in Dallas and nobody wanted to go to because we have sooo much homework! I refuse to stay up all night like last Sunday though. So i need to get off the computer. I finally found postcards! i found 8 for a dollar, bought those, then right next door found 10 for a dollar. and bought those. so I believe i'm stalked up, especially since i don't have anyone's address... also in Little Italy I and another girl bought expensive perfume for cheap.. which we thought looked legit until we opened the box and discovered the Coco Chanel Mademoiselle's sticker was crooked and there was particles of dust and a tiny hair floating around it.

At 1:30 today our art history class took the subway and then the bus( because the subways weren't working) to the PS1 museum but they had something special going on and would not let us in like they said they would. So we went back to the campus area and our teacher ( on my asking) took us to an amaaaazzing flea market 2 blocks from school that is only on Saturdays that latasha and Lauren ad I should definitely visit when they come to New York. Lots of vintage stuff. I held back and just browsed and enjoyed the atmosphere :) Mickey, Gabriella and I walked and found a wal greens to print photos for foundation but.... Everything photo related is broken for them till Tuesday. Such bad luck. We walked back down Myrtle Avenue and found the beauty supply store where someone had said they got lipstick for a dollar. We go and I end up getting a bunch of hair curlers and various things for my final project in fashion design, which is to reconstruct a t-shirt. And we get bandanas and a funky knitted hat type thing that I wore with the super crazy boots I bought at the thrift store and we end up looking even more like art students. We got back to Pratt where I left again to go to the Siren Music Festival at Coney Island. We walk around and I I buy a falafel gyro which was delicious and a pink lemonade. And something exciting is happening tomorrow morning! I'm going vintage shopping with 6 girls. And we're going to make one more stop... :)
The Philharmonic Orchestra played in Prospect Park last night. We arrived at 6 and the concert started at 8 so Hannah and Rowan and I walked around town a bit. We found a Small Japanese resaurant where the owners didn't charge us tax and they thanked us profusely. I bought a Philadelphia roll for $4...delish. And Hannah got duck. We walked back to the park where TONS of people were now at and we meet Kevin, an architect "major" with a ......we can't find the rest of the group so we enjoy the concert for a little while and once it starts getting dark decide we should look for them since we don't know where we're supposed to meet at or what time. We call Pratt to get our chaperone's number and decide to sign out from the group since we know were we're going and it was taking awhile for the chaperone to find us. We walk around some more since the orchestra took a break (and sadly didn't hear then again) and we bought gelato from an outdoor store. I got Spanish cherry and cookie dough. Yum. When I got home me and my suitemates were talking and at11:30 someone (a friendish) knocked and asked if she could move in with me, she talked to the RA who told her to come here since I didn't have a roommate and she was getting in fights with her suitemates. Sooooooooo..... Yeah. There are now 4 people in our suite.

July 16

Last night I got a full night of sleep. I'm not tired! We got to sleep in today because we are having a lecture at 11 to listen to Sarah Gates. After that my art history class is taking a field trip to the MOMA to see "post modernism". Excited. Yesterday my fashion class walked to the Brooklyn Museum of Art To see "American High Style: Fashioning a National Collection". Twas wonderful. Me and a few friends walked back separately to look at all the cool shops and places we past on the way there. The day before that, I walked with friends to the coolest/sketchiest Salvation Army Thrift Store. It was half off Wednesday! I bought the strangest boots ever. They're metallic gold, the toe is long and goes up, and it had lots of beadwork. They're so strange. My friend bought his first ever sewing machine! He's designed all his life but never sewn. It was a $30 singer.

update

I've been here a week! only 3 weeks left and i'm enjoying every minute of it. So far I have only had Foundation of Art and Design and my fashion design class. Learning lots! In foundation we have nude models everyday for us to sketch and we have sooooo much homework with not much time to do it. Last night I stayed up all night working on my fashion design Illustration board then had to go to classes and survive the day with no sleep. I still have had no sleep. BUT most people here said they either stayed up late, got an hours worth of sleep, or got absolutely none at all (like me) due to homework. It was especially hard because of all our mandatory activities we had this weekend. Friday our fashion class had a field trip to Manhattan to visit the Fashion Institute of Technology's Eco Chic exhibit. The subway to Manhattan takes 1 hour. We got to stay at the museum for 30 minutes. I took a picture of Fashion Avenue! But didnt see much else due to field tripiness. Half an hour after we got back to the Pratt campus we took the subway to Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum (also an hour long subway ride). It was much cooler than it sounds. Not a place I would want to go often or ever again, but a good experience. Saturday our H group (campus divided into traveling groups to minimize loss of high schoolers wandering off) took the hour long subway to Madam Tussaud's Wax Museum. I got lots of pictures with celebrities! Wax ones that is. It was fun. Me, Cheryl, and Rowan got to wander around Times Square for 20 minutes and got pizza (which I dropped after eating only half). THEN came back to campus. 30 minutes after THAT we leave for the Carnival Sea Cruise Boat Tour, which is exactly where we had just been (except a couple blocks away, on the water of course) I enjoyed it immensely and took lots and lots of pictures (a plethora in fact) It was slightly annoying getting there due to incomunication with the leaders but it was worked out. Saturday night I worked on my inspiration board til 2am then slept in Sunday til 10:51 (though not on purpose. I had set my alarm for 7 then 8 then 9 and then just decided I needed sleep) Our H group left for Coney Island for the Aquarium, which had bad reviews from all the other pre-collegeians. Therefore, I and a few people skipped out and walked around the Coney Island Boardwalk which I thought was a wise decision. Twas fun. I bought a mango on a stick and fried shrimp and it was delicious. We wanted to ride rides but only had 1 hour and could not find the ticket booth so we just walked, which was nice. I also bought a few magnets to send home and a fedora hat for myself : ) We got home and everyone had a super ton amount of homework, most of which could not have physically been possible to finish. I walked around Myrtle Ave with friends in my foundation class because we were in desperate need of a copy machine for class. The one on campus was closed for the weekend and it was due monday. We coulndnt find a place with a copy machine anywhere so we got take out Chinese and went to finish other homework which is how I, and most other people, came to become sleep deprived little art students. I worked on my fashion board from around 8pm til 7am. Faithfully. I have no idea how it took so long but everyone else in my class didn't get sleep either so I guess I'm normal. It looks great though! I want to put pics on here but not completely sure how to get them from my camera or phone to computer to flash drive to here. But I'll find out. The computer labs close in 20 minutes. I've been trying to write fast to get this up to date. I may go sleep when I get back to my room and save my homework for tomorrow. We start our Portfolio Development and Art History classes tomorrow! yea.

update!

Today was my second day of classes at Pratt Intstitute's Pre-College summer program. I'm loving it so far! i've met lots of people and made lots of art. its fabulous. The plane ride Monday morn went smoothly except in Dallas, we had been sitting in the plane for about 45 minutes. We took off and flew for about 10 minutes when they told us we were going to turn around b/c the plane was broken. So that took lots of time and by the time we landed, got everything sorted out, and were settled into a new plane, we were delayed about 3 hours. And after landing in New York (exciting!) my luggage was not in the baggage claim, nor in the baggage claim of the flight after mine. I talked with the luggage service people who told me they didn't have my luggage but just in case, they let me in the back room saying it prob wasnt there but to look anyways. i found it. more later! i'm going to dinner. much love : )

One Week!

In exactly one week, 3 hours, and one minute, I will be arriving at LaGuardia Airport in New York City. I don't have any travel companions, I haven't been to New York since 4th grade, and I have no idea what to expect. I'm soooo excited!! Today I got my bedding together in a box and will deliver it to the post office right after lunch at El Tapatio...Gotta run!
